I had my first golf lesson on Tuesday and it was a nice change to go out for some fresh air. The nice and slightly unsettling part about living in a small town is that after a couple of months it becomes very difficult to not meet someone who is completely 'new' . You always have friends or something in common. So of course, I ended up 'sort of' knowing almost everyone else in the ten people batch. For a girl who has always lived in a large anonymous city, the wierdness still hasn't completely sunk in yet.

From the little golf that I have seen on TV, I always assumed that the pre swing posture and the gripping of the club was the most effortlessly comfortable position ever. WRONG. Apart from the acute knowledge of one's very unladylike position, the exact placement of the thumb, index finger, palm etc. on the club demands a bit of obsessing over. Not all of my balls managed to get airborne and some of them just rolled over the grass. But it was fun and I know I have a lot of 'how to swing' youtube videos to devour before the next class!
