Yesterday...K,I,Y and moi went out for some good dark Stolichno and some bulgarian Salad..It was quite an interesting mix of languages on the table..Russian, Arabic,Hindi...
Next on Agenda was a full blown Chalga Party...To celebrate the Name Day of a newie and a birthday of an oldie......
The dance movements that go with traditional Chalga, Greek Folk, Turbo Folk and all the other pop/hip hop /rap Balkan variations...look extremely smooth and simple to the untrained and naive eye (a.k.a. me)...but after trying to sway to the extremely exotic sounding music I have come to the conclusion that the grace to dance particular folk style is somehow embedded into the dna of the people of the particular land.....there is some subconscious connect between the people and the beat and rhythmn.....
.I gues its part of the charm, the indigenous heritage...something you suck in like a sponge during your unconscious and conscious socialization...for Indians, try imagining a non indian dacing the bhangra,garba,dandiya...and you will know what i mean.....
O yea, and I just visited the Indian Embassy of Sofia to register myself...read some Outlooks,India Todays and week old Hindustan Times papers and walked out grinning like a clown...
Chalga, Name Day and the Indian Embassy...
